Monster Jam Steel Titans 2 Gamplay Preview – Sunday, Sunday, Sunday

Monster Jam Steel Titans 2 is a game chock full of monster trucks. You can practically hear the announcer yelling Sunday, Sunday, Sunday into the microphone.

The game starts you off with a short tutorial and I recommend going through it if you are new to the game. There is also an advanced tutorial which I recommend perusing because the game has a high skill ceiling if you want to have full mastery over your monster truck, kind of like rocket league. You can do many tricks and maneuvers that take quite a bit of skill to pull off. I am relatively new and uninitiated to the world of monster trucks and I was falling over left and right. After the tutorial it drops you off into the overworld map.

From here, you can practice whatever skill you want. You can even go find some collectables sprinkled throughout the map. They look like Doritos chips. If you don’t want to drive around, you can drive to the garage to play one off events or go to the door to start your career mode. There will be more things to do and interact with on the overworld map once you finish some career missions.

There are two events available at the start, a rally and an obstacle destruction race. The rally is pretty straight forward, you simply drive through the way points until you get to the finish line. The obstacle destruction race is a high score race where the goal is to successfully destroy all the obstacles in a timely manner. If you don’t steer off course too much, every obstacle you successfully destroy increases your combo multiplier, drastically increasing your score.

For the career mode you usually participate in three events. They can range from a rally, to a destruction course, to a stunt performance or something else entirely. You get scored in each event and at the end you will usually unlock a new truck or new events and courses. Your truck levels up as you use it more and that increases its stats, making it handle better on the course.

Overall, Monster Jam Steel Titans 2 is a pretty well made monster truck game. The cars feel pretty good to drive and the game lets you have a surprising amount of control over them. It was pretty difficult for me to master and it’ll probably take me a while to get it. The graphics are ok and the high octane sound track suits the game. It’ll bring you back to memories of watching monster trucks destroy things but more importantly, it’s actually a pretty well made game.
