Tesla Force is a top down, twin stick rogue lite shooter set in an alternate universe where the likes of Nikola Tesla and Marie Curie fight against hordes of eldritch evil from another dimension.
You start off each level in a very handy mech to help you obliterate your foes. After a short duration, the mech falls apart and you can retrieve four mech parts to resummon it.

The game features a series of levels, each with a random objective, which can range from destroying demonic statues to surviving endless waves of twisted creatures. As you try your best to survive and complete the objectives, you can pick up temporary power ups, new weapons and abilities, as well as crystal shards.
Before Nuke. After Nuke.
The temporary power ups give you an edge in combat and the effects can range from adding fire damage to your bullets, to slowing down time so you can maneuver around enemies more easily, to increasing the spread of your shots.

The weapons are varied and all have differing amounts of damage, rate of fire, and spread to suit all types of play styles. The abilities have charges and usually deal damage. Once the charges are depleted, you can keep using your abilities by consuming batteries or pick up energy on the map from fallen foes. In addition to having one active ability, you also have a teleport ability to help you reposition yourself in tough situations as well.

The crystal shards are gained and kept even after death and are used to purchase permanent passive upgrades to help navigate future runs more easily. They are passive stat buffs like increasing maximum health points, increasing mech armor, and etc.

In between levels, you can also purchase temporary passive buffs. Towards the end of my run on Twitch, I had passive buffs that let me shoot backwards in addition to forward and bounce bullets off walls. This lead to a rainbow of bullets spraying in every direction, every which way to kill enemies I couldn’t even see. It was great.

Tesla Force is only in its alpha stages right now but it looks like a solid and fun twinstick roguelite. Cthulu stands no chance against the power of a copious amount of bullets…I mean science.
