Zombie Rollerz: Pinball Heroes is a pinball game where you fight against zombies. The game has flashy special moves and environmental attacks. It’s a pretty fun pinball game and it elevates the gameplay even further by incorporating rogue lite elements on a playing field that feels similar to a board game.
The pinball elements are simple to grasp and provides a lot of entertaining action. The ball stays on the paddle for a while and shows the path the ball will take if you were to activate the bumpers. This takes any guesswork out of the equation. It may sound like the game is too easy but it definitely is not the case as there are usually many moving targets and using the guide lines make hitting the targets much less frustrating. The pace of action is pretty frantic so you will be pressed for time anyways.
The game provides a lot of flashy ways to help eliminate the advancing horde of zombies. The first method are environmental attacks. By hitting specific objects on the field, special attacks such as falling bombs or spinning axes will help eliminate the zombies. The second comes from special attacks and ultimates specific to your pinball hero. As you play the game, you will level up and unlock abilities and special attacks. These abilities can be triggered anytime but have to be recharged over time before you can use them again.
The abilities can range from shooting bursts of water to a flurry of knives being thrown from the ball to ultimates such as giving the ball a ring of damaging fire around it. The abilities are pretty useful and make it easier to handle the zombies in later levels as they usually have some sort of armor, abilities of their own, and a larger amount of heath.
The pinball segments occur when you run into an enemy. When you aren’t fighting enemies, you are controlling your hero on a board like map. The map usually has obstacles that can be overcome with specific items, such as magic shovels that will remove tree stumps blocking the way. Behind the obstacles are usually treasures to help you on your run or a branching pathway. Once you fight an enemy on the map, one day will advance and sections of the board will slowly become inaccessible.
The goal is to reach the end and defeat the boss. The boss encounters are pretty involved as the bosses have large health bars and they throw a lot of different attacks at you. The game does get pretty difficult towards the end and you will eventually die. The game is like a roguelite in that you will have to start your run over again from the beginning but you will have unlocks that will help you in future runs.
Overall, Zombie Rollerz: Pinball Heroes is a flashy and fun pinball game that adds on to the gameplay with abilities, and replayability with the rogue lite elements.
