Everspace 2 is a gorgeous looking space sim. The ships look and feel great. They even sound great as well. Navigating through that galaxy is just as I imagined it to be. I would highly recommend using a HOTAS setup for this game as playing with mouse and keyboard is doable but not ideal. Almost every element of handling the ship can be modified in the menu, from dead zones, to sensitivity, to inverting the input.

Ship handling aside, the game also features a light role playing element. You can complete quests and level up your character, rewarding you with passive bonuses. The missions can range from a simple side quest like rescuing a person stranded in space in a life pod to fixing leaks on a trading station.

In addition to the quest system, the game also features an emphasis on loot. You can find or buy loot to sell or use to modify your ship. You can swap out your weapons, get larger shields at the expense of the recharge rate, and etc.

Ever since I’ve encountered the world of Eve Online, I’ve been patiently waiting for a massive galaxy to explore with player driven content but with better ship handling. This game looks like a closer step to that dream.
