There is a possibility the GKD Pixel as well as other GKD products may be going open source in the future. The GKD Pixel is similar to the RG Nano and Miyoo Mini, an ultra portable handheld device.
This is great news as one of the main points of concern was the lack of open source software support. Custom firmware and operating systems make the hardware much more user friendly and robust. In some situations they can even improve performance of emulators.
If you were on the fence about purchasing this device, I would take a wait and see approach and see what open source operating systems come out for the device. So far, shauninman has allegedly successfully installed MinUI on the device and hopefully a robust custom OS is not far behind.
